Sunday, May 8 marks the golden wedding anniversary of Cecil and Pauline Hagman of Port Coquitlam. The couple were married in San Diego in 1917 and moved to Port Coquitlam in 1948.
Mrs. Hagman taught ballet, ballroom and classical dance for many years in Vancouver. The Hagmans have been active in the Swedish Folk community, teaching folk dancing and serving on the board of directors for the Swedish-Canadian Rest Home Association.
The hagmans raised five sons and two daughters. Son Jack is a consulting engineer living in Los Angeles, Margaret is a housewife living in Whonnock and Bill, a priest, lives in Santa Cruz. Bob directs a Youth Detention Centre and lives in New Westminster while Pete lives close by in Coquitlam and manages a supermarket. Richard is the only teacher, teaching music in Enderby while his sister Christine is a hairdresser in Mission.
An open house will be held in honor of the couple at their son Bob's New Westminster home on May 8. By request, gifts are respectfully declined."
