Dennis "Denny" Jack Haverstock, 81, of Nanoose Bay, BC passed away peacefully on June 15, 2017 at Arrowsmith Lodge, Parksville, BC after living with Alzheimer's for several years. Denny was born in Vancouver, BC on September 23, 1935. He grew up in Richmond, BC where he met and married his wife Margaret O'Brian. Denny and Marg raised their 3 children Jackie, Jeff and Tammy in Coquitlam. In 1996, they relocated to Vancouver Island to enjoy their retirement years in Nanoose Bay. Denny was a talented wood worker and a master carpenter. He created many beautiful pieces of furniture and art for his family and friends. Denny worked for Coleman Furniture, Citation Cabinets and Rosewood Manor. Denny enjoyed renovating his dream log home, surrounded by his beautifully landscaped acreage. He loved travelling to warm climates with family and friends. He would walk the beaches in the early morning hours before it got too hot. He also had fun spending time in Terrace with his granddaughter Laura, catching fish and going for walks. Denny was predeceased by his parents Jack and Edna Haverstock. He is survived by his beloved wife Margaret, brothers Ray (Judy), Ron (Irene), daughter Jackie (Doug), son Jeff (Doug), daughter Tammy, and granddaughter Laura. A special thank you to Wexford Creek and Arrowsmith Lodge for the compassionate care they provided Denny. A Memorial Service and reception will be held on Saturday, September 9, 2017 at 1:30 p.m. at the Evangelical Free Church, 2462 Nanoose Road, Nanoose Bay, BC. In lieu of flowers, please honour Denny's life with a donation to Arrowsmith Lodge, 266 Moilliet Street, Parksville, BC V9P 1M9."
