"Obituary of Frank Dodd
Francis (Frank) Dodd passed away peacefully in Calgary, Alberta, on August 23, 2021, at the age of 90. Frank was born on February 15, 1931, in Trochu, Alberta, to Louise & Frederick Dodd. He met Helene Laisnez of Big Valley, Alberta, while they attended Pontmain High School in Trochu. They were married on June 2, 1953. Frank always said he and Queen Elizabeth got crowned on the same day. Frank is predeceased by his parents, sister Rosemary, brother Fred (Florence), and daughter Geralyn. He is survived by his sister Alice (Roger) and brother Jim (Evelyn).
Frank and Helene enjoyed their life in Trochu being involved in community, church, and raising their five children Kenn (Anya), Janet (Murray), Gord (Melanie), Lorie (Frank) and Fred. They loved spending time with their five grandchildren Jesse (Marina), Cameron, Megan, Garrett, and Peyton, and their great grandchildren Sawyer and Maya. Other special people in their lives are Shelley, Larkin, Jessica, Ella and Scarlett.
Frank started working in the Trochu Post Office at the age of 16. In 1961, he replaced his father as Postmaster. He ended his career as Regional Postmaster and he retired in 1988. He then started Valley Golf Repair, which was a fun hobby for him.
Frank was an active in the community being a member of the Elks, Lions, and Knights of Columbus. He and Gene Schramm were instrumental in the restarting of the Trochu golf course after the war; and he continued to volunteer at the course for all of his years in Trochu. Frank was a great athlete and enjoyed playing hockey, baseball, curling, bowling and golf. He also enjoyed fly fishing; and the family spent many weekends camping west of Sundre. Frank loved coaching hockey and baseball and had a positive influence on his players. In later years, golf became his passion. He participated in many tournaments and won a gold medal at the Canadian Senior Summer Games in PEI.
We will miss his sense of humour and pleasant demeanor. We enjoyed many great extended family times together.

"Our loving husband, father and grandfather, R.C. (Dick) Schneider, born in Nisku, AB., April 19, 1934, passed away peacefully on March 18, 2012 in Nanaimo, B.C. with his wife Nadia and family by his side. Richard is survived by his devoted wife of 54 years, Nadia, and his children Lynn (Duane) Chipley of Estevan, SK., David Schneider of Victoria, B.C. and Douglas (Isabel) Schneider of Ottawa, ON. , their 8 grandchildren, Lynn's children Julie, Tobias, Grant and David Henneberg , David's children Matthew and Jack, and Doug and Isabel's children, Andres and Christopher. He was pre-deceased by his father and mother, Herman and Julia Schneider, his brother Leonard, and sister Myrtle. His surviving siblings are Helen Jehn, Susie Schneider, Gertrude (Harry) Andruski, Albert Schneider and Dorothy (Doug) McCarthy, and sister-in-law Ruth Schneider. Richard grew up on the family farm near Nisku and completed his schooling at Leduc High School. Following high school Richard joined the Royal Bank of Canada as a clerk in the town of Devon. He met the love of his life, Nadia, in Edmonton and they married in 1957 and transferred with the bank to Lethbridge. That was the first of many moves and where their daughter Lynn was born in 1958. A transfer to Edmonton followed as well as the arrival of David in 1960. Another transfer followed to Calgary as well as the arrival of Douglas in 1964. The family returned briefly to Lethbridge before transferring to Montreal where Richard served as the chief secretary to then President of Royal Bank, Earl McLaughlin. The family returned west in 1970 to Regina, SK., where Richard worked in several positions in both Regina and Moose Jaw before transferring to his final working destination, Calgary, AB, in 1982. Richard retired in the spring of 1994 as Vice-President of Retail, Calgary Downtown. Richard and Nadia built their retirement home overlooking the ocean in Nanaimo, B.C. in 1994, and enjoyed membership at the Nanaimo Golf Club, travelling and cruising to several southern and foreign destinations, and visiting with their grandchildren. Richard will be remembered for his integrity, compassion and kindness, and an ability to see the humour in every situation, including his last days battling prostate cancer. A service to celebrate "Dick's" life will be held on Tuesday, March 27, 2012, at 1:00 PM at Sand's Funeral Chapel in Nanaimo. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the BC Cancer Agency, The Prostate Centre Victoria, or the Nanaimo and District Hospital Foundation. The family extends a heartfelt thank you to the many family, friends and health care workers for their exceptional compassion and care during Richard's final days."
Identified that he died on 18 March 2012 in Nanaimo.
