The respondent filed an answer that she left her husband on account of his cruelty and ill-treatment, but did not appear at the hearing. The parties were married in Scotalnd in 1865. Mr. Justice V. Beckett said that it appeared to him that the petitioner had hardly acted within his legal rights, and only for the admission of desertion by the respondent he would be inclined to refuse the petition; but, under the circumstances there would be a decree nisi."
